Three differences that decide it
1. Privacy is architectural, not a setting
On a standard PC, Win+H performs recognition in the cloud — your audio leaves the machine by design. Microsoft's Fluid Dictation fixes that, but only if you own Copilot+ NPU hardware. Blabb sends no audio or text anywhere, and has no hardware gate: the speech model and the cleanup model both ship inside the installer and run on any x64 CPU or GPU. Pull the network cable and dictation keeps working — the subscription re-checks with the licence server at least every 30 days, and that check is the only traffic. For NDA, client-confidential, or health-related content, that's the whole decision.
2. The locked-down desktop problem
If you work in a corporate RDP, Citrix, or VDI session, your org has probably blocked clipboard redirection on purpose — and most dictation tools quietly die there. Blabb types text into the focused window key-by-key, using one of four input methods you set yourself — globally, or overridden for a particular app — so your words land even where paste is forbidden.
3. Dictation that matches how people talk
Win+H stops listening when you pause to think. Blabb records until you're done, then its on-device AI removes the "ums", fixes punctuation, and converts "twenty three" to "23". Its instructions tell it to edit what you said rather than add to it — a design rule we tune for, which is why the history pane keeps your original words beside the result.
