Everything in Blabb,
in one list

The complete feature list — speech recognition, AI cleanup, formatting, reach, privacy, and the editions — all running on your own PC. Blabb is actively developed, so this list grows as features land.

01Capture

Speech to text, on your machine

On-device speech recognition

Cohere Transcribe — an openly licensed speech-recognition model — runs entirely on your PC. Parakeet, Granite, and SenseVoice are available as alternative backends.

Shipped, not downloaded

About 3.8 GB in the installer — no download step, no API key. Runs on a plain CPU and uses your GPU when one is present, with automatic CPU fallback.

Runs until you're done

Built-in voice activity detection keeps recording through natural pauses instead of cutting off after a few seconds of silence.

02Cleanup & AI

Polished text, faithful to what you said

Faithful by design

The cleanup prompt tells the model to correct grammar, fillers, and formatting and to add nothing you didn't say — no invented content, no changed numbers, no answering a question you were only dictating.

Six cleanup styles

Pick how far the AI goes: Keep original, Fix typos, Make clear, Polish professionally, Warm up tone, or Match screen terms. Your choice, every time — never an auto-guess, and Keep original is the default.

Enterprise-grade local LLM

IBM Granite (built under an ISO 42001-certified AI management process) does the cleanup, on your PC. An optional larger model is available for tougher work.

Numbers, dates, and units

Spoken numbers become digits with the right units and symbols — "fifty dollars" to $50, "two thirty PM" to 2:30 PM — while values, versions, IDs, and code are left exactly as said.

Numbers, codes and IDs — kept verbatim

A phone number, passcode, serial, license key, file hash, IP address or ID can't be "tidied" — a cleanup step that tries can quietly drop a digit and hand back a wrong number that looks perfectly clean. Blabb recognises those machine-shaped tokens, holds them aside while it polishes your words, and puts them back exactly as you dictated them. The wording changes; the numbers don't.

Fillers and false starts, gone

Removes "um", "uh", repeated words, and false starts where it helps — and when you correct yourself mid-sentence, it keeps the version you meant.

Accent-robust correction

Uses context to fix transcription slips, including those from accented speech, while preserving your meaning, intent, and technical terms.

It types your words, it doesn't act on them

Dictate "write an email to John" and Blabb types those words. The prompt states the rule outright: everything spoken is text to clean, never an instruction to follow.

03Formatting

Structure by voice

Spoken layout commands

Say "new line" or "new paragraph" and Blabb breaks the text there. Call out "bullet point" or "first point, second point" and it lays the items out as a list — the command words themselves never show up in your text.

Punctuation and symbols by voice

Say "question mark", "open quote", "comma", "colon", "at sign", or "hashtag" and Blabb types the mark, not the words. Handy for email addresses, quotes, and anything your hands would normally reach for a symbol key to do.

Knows commands from content

It only formats when you clearly mean a command. Say "we need a new paragraph in the essay" and those words stay as ordinary text — and ordinary speech never sprouts stray symbols.

Clean, plain text

Lists come out as plain hyphens and numbers that paste anywhere — no stray markdown symbols to clean up afterward.

04Reach

If it has a cursor, Blabb types there

Works in locked-down sessions

Types straight into nested RDP, Citrix, VDI, and AWS Workspace sessions that block the clipboard. It can't reach windows running as administrator — a Windows security boundary, not a Blabb limit.

Four input methods, yours to set

Direct, Type fast, Type slowly, or Paste — pick one globally, or override it for a particular app, so terminals, remote desktops, and stubborn fields all get your words.

Screen-aware corrections

In the Match screen terms style, Blabb reads the window you're working in and matches its names, terms, and casing — then forgets it after the dictation.

05Editions

Your profession's vocabulary, on a separate plan

Blabb + Medical Vocabulary and Blabb + Legal Vocabulary are their own plans at USD $9.99 a month — everything in Blabb, plus the dictionary. They are not part of the $4.99 plan.

Blabb + Medical Vocabulary

48,133 clinical terms — drugs, conditions, procedures, anatomy. The full dictionary drives the spelling pass over the raw transcription, and a summary of matched terms goes to the AI editor. Dosages, units, lateralities, and negations are preserved exactly.

Blabb + Legal Vocabulary

13,004 legal terms of art, Latin phrases, and procedural words, with party names, citations, dates, and amounts kept exactly as dictated.

Same app, same privacy

The dictionaries live on your PC. Editions add vocabulary, not a cloud connection.

06Privacy

Private because your words never travel

100% on-device

Speech recognition and AI cleanup both run on your PC. Your audio and transcripts are never uploaded, queued, or routed through a server. The app reaches the internet for three things and no others: downloading a model that wasn't packaged with it, checking your subscription with Polar, and — if you switch it on — sending crash reports.

Encrypted at rest

Secrets are protected with Windows DPAPI and integrity-checked with HMAC; history is stored in an encrypted local database.

Off by default, always

Crash reporting is opt-in behind a single toggle and off unless you turn it on. Logs mask sensitive information automatically.

07History & learning

The longer you use it, the more it's yours

Local diff history

Every dictation is saved on your PC with a visual diff — new words in one colour, removed ones struck through. Search it, compare it, copy it, or wipe it.

You set the shelf life

Keep history for a day, a week (the default), a month, or forever — or choose "Don't save history" and nothing is written to disk at all. "Delete Blabb data" clears history, saved words, and logs in one click.

Learns your vocabulary

Names, jargon, and acronyms are picked up from your corrections and get it right next time. Per-app settings and a time-saved counter build up as you go — all on your PC.

08Platform

A real Windows app, priced like a coffee

Windows 11, x64

A true native Windows app — not a browser shell — with the models shipped in the installer. No NPU required.

USD $4.99 a month, unlimited dictation

One coffee a month, no word caps, with a 14-day free trial first — or USD $99 once for a lifetime licence. Blabb Free covers 2,000 words a day, forever, no card. There's no per-word inference bill to pass on, so the price stays small. The vocabulary editions are separate plans at USD $9.99.

Dictates on a plane

Once your subscription has been verified, Blabb keeps dictating for 30 days without reaching the licence server — so a flight, a locked-down network, or a dead Wi-Fi router doesn't stop you mid-sentence.

Everything above, on your PC — and it already replaces the keyboard.

Two weeks free, models in the installer, dictation that runs on your PC.
