# Changing or cancelling your plan

Where plan changes actually happen, what stops when a subscription ends, and what stays on your PC.

Changing or cancelling a Blabb subscription happens with Polar, the payment provider, not in Blabb
and not in the Microsoft Store. Blabb's Account page is how you get there.

## Making a change

Settings → **Account** → **Manage**. That opens the Polar billing portal in your browser, which is
where your subscription actually lives — upgrades, downgrades, payment details and cancellation are
all handled there.

When you come back, press **Refresh** on the Account page. It re-reads your subscription so the
status badge is current, and it switches on the specialist vocabulary your plan now includes — so if
you have just moved to the Medical or Legal plan, Refresh is the button.

That covers the permission to dictate too, so a plan change takes effect as soon as the button
comes back — you do not have to restart Blabb or wait for the daily check.

## Cancelling during the free trial

Every plan begins with a 14-day free trial, and cancelling inside it is the same route as any other
change: **Manage**, then cancel in the Polar portal. Do it before the fortnight is up and the card
you entered at checkout is not charged.

## What happens when a subscription ends

Dictation carries on — you drop back to the free tier of 2,000 words a day. Nothing is deleted and
nothing nags you; the upgrade ask simply appears once the day's words are spent, should you want
unlimited dictation again.

Everything you have made stays exactly where it is, on your PC:

| What | Where it stays |
| --- | --- |
| Dictation history | On this PC, encrypted, subject to your retention setting. |
| Settings | On this PC, unchanged. |
| Saved words | On this PC, unchanged. |

If you resubscribe later, it is all still there and Blabb picks up where it left off. Removing any
of it is a separate and deliberate act on your part — see
[Deleting your data](/docs/privacy/deleting-your-data/).

> [!NOTE]
> Cancelling in the billing portal and pressing **Remove** on the Account page are different things.
> Cancelling ends the subscription. Remove only signs this PC out of it, which is what you want when
> you are moving to another machine.

## Refunds

Refunds are handled by Polar as the merchant of record, under the terms you agreed to at checkout.

We are not going to guess at them here — the specifics belong to Polar and to the
[licence agreement](/legal/eula/), and a docs page inventing a policy helps nobody. If you have a
question about a charge or a refund, write to
[support@blabb.io](mailto:support@blabb.io) and someone will sort it out with you.
